Woven Word Young Writers Workshop is dedicated to fostering a love of creative writing in kids and teens. Run by Lynn Bowmaster, Woven Word Young Writers offers after school and home school workshops which meet weekly in Hadley throughout the academic year. Woven Word creates a writing environment infused with fun and challenge. Inventive prompts and positive feedback are offered to help writers understand the strengths of their work. Virtual Workshops For Writers (Ages 10-14)
Tuesday 4 - 5:30 PM EST
About Tuesday’s Virtual Writing Space
Woven Word families have requested that this workshop remain virtual this year. As a virtual experience it works well. We facilitate the opening so that everyone feels included in the writing circle. We read poetry or a prompt example, then often brainstorm some aspect of the writing prompt. Once we are writing, writers are welcome to turn off their cameras until we share. We finish with the Read and Response section, which is fun, affirmative, and social. Semester II A
Feb. 8-March 29, (7 weeks, not meeting 2/22)** $165 Semester II B April 5-May 31, (8 weeks, not mtg. 4/19)* $185 *Part B will be facilitated by Tom Brennan. |
In Person (With Hybrid Option) Workshops for Teen Writers ( Ages 12 -18 )
Wednesday 4:30 - 6:30 PM EST
We start with chatting and writers reading poetry out loud as the program opens. Sometimes there is an example related to a writing prompt. We offer many prompts to get the creative juices going, including a suggested exercise, line prompts, words lists, and a group brainstorm. Many writers in this workshop are focused on on going pieces but plenty of new pieces are started every week. All approaches are welcome. Writers are free to write whatever inspires them. We write for 30 minutes. Writers are invited to share their pieces and receive affirmative feedback. There is a social/snack break in the middle.
Semester II A
Feb. 9 - March 30 (not mtg. Feb. 23) $195 Semester II B April 6-June 1 (not mtg. April/20) * $195 *Semester II Part B is facilitated by Tom Brennan and workshop members. |
Summers on the Houseboat
( Ages 12 -18 )
The Summers on the Houseboat Sessions are a great way to make friends, complete a story or two, and generally enjoy those hot summer days. The program includes three writing and sharing periods during the day. We begin here at the house, with two writing sessions in the morning, broken up by a snack break. Around mid-day we head to the river for a lunch/swim/recreational break at the houseboat. In the afternoon we offer choices including a writing workshop circle, a simple art space, and an invitation to just hang out or read. A variety of prompts are given, pieces are written and shared, and affirmative feedback is offered.
Session I:
June 27 - July 1, 9AM - 4PM Session II: July 11 - 15, 9AM - 4PM $450 |

And the end of our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
